Easing Back In

My schedule has been more than a little ridiculous lately, leaving little time to just shoot for myself. In an attempt to break the monotony, I grabbed my D80 and 50mm, hit the pavement. First, I found not one, but two wedding parties, and snapped a few candid shots I’m not able to when shooting a wedding myself. After that, I hit up a party over at the Groove-E-Juice E-cigarette shop to celebrate the opening of its new lounge. But I didn’t get to stay long. The smoke detector’s visual sensor mistook the e-cig vapor for smoke, setting off the alarm and calling the fire department. Fortunately, it all got sorted out, and the party was free to continue.

Going With the Artistic Flow

Last night, I was invited back out to the Metro Studio Spin Jam out in Akron for some more photos and video. This time, I decided to take greater advantage of the studio’s setup. An entire wall is basically one giant, seamless backdrop and the other walls are covered by curtains. I figured that it was the perfect chance to test out my new light stands.

Outrunning Winter 4

Since I’ve been uploading GoPro images from my bike trips so often, I’ve started to look for alternate routes to keep things from getting too stale. I didn’t have much time to explore, but I did manage to explore a new way to and from where I work. First, I went through some back roads behind the country club and then I found a new vantage point for one of the Twin Lakes behind a local tavern. On the way back, I found a middle route between the short and long ways home.

Morning Walk

With a new house, comes a new neighborhood. I spent a morning just wandering around with my camera. We’re only about 75 yards from a lake, which which I hope has some great potential for future shoots.  In the morning, fog rises from the water, and it makes for some interesting silhouette effects. I’m going to keep a close eye on the lake to see what else it has to offer.

At Least I Have The River

I’m still attacking the backlog. These are from back in April when a classmate had messaged me about doing a shoot at the Kent Stage. It took me some time to get in contact with the people in charge and work out some time to get us the stage to ourselves for the shoot… and she never showed. No call, or message, or anything at any point. I still haven’t heard back from her.  All I have to show for my trouble was this silhouette of me with my camera I took while I was waiting.

I guess it wasn’t a total loss though, I did manage to get a few river shots on the way home. Nothing at all new to the site but they’re popular enough.
