Hitting the Beach

I took a few days to just recover after finals had finished. Now, I’m rested up, and ready to get back in the action. My awesome friend, Tegan, hit me up to check out one of the Great Lakes beaches.

We found some interesting junk laying around the beach, and they looked so much cooler in black and white.

Happy Birthday, Jordan!

I’m taking some time today to wish this spectacular lady a, Happy Birthday. Jordan was a regular model on the site for a while, and she’s always been great to work with. We’ve done shoots in studios, graveyards, a river, and frigid cold, and she’s never been anything short of stellar. Hopefully, we can collaborate again soon.

Macro Test

I know that both my 24-70mm and my 50mm look great paired with my new D7200, but I’ve heard that any flaws in lower quality lenses, like my Tamron 70-300mm, will become more pronounced with the more advanced sensor. After taking my telephoto out for a test drive with new body, I can safely say that my fears were unfounded. If anything, it looks better. Since I now have less noise at higher ISO settings, it I can get away with faster shutter speeds and higher apertures, resulting in cleaner images overall.

Emily at the Riverfront

I teamed up with my awesome and lovely friend, Emily, to shoot a portrait set down my the Cuyahoga Falls Riverfront. Since half the shoot was at night, I got experimental with the lighting. The shots by the fountain in particular used a combination of shutter dragging, one off camera flash for fill light, and a second remote flash with a spotlight modifier. The post processing was more elaborate than usual to, How did I do? Let me know in the comments below.

Exploring by the Lake

Even with all the GoPro photos I’ve been posting from my bike rides, I’ll still stop if I see something I want to shoot with my cell. If any of the locations look familiar, I shot these the same day I took the photos I posted yesterday. I the editing on a couple of these looks extreme, it’s because I’m messing around with some more advanced Lightroom tools. Please, let me know if I’ve gone too far with these.
